The Brooklyn Museum will open on July 15th the fourth in its series of War Services Exhibitions - BRITISH UTILITY CLOTHING. The exhibition will be shown in the Exhibition Hall where it will remain on view through Sunday, August 22nd. It has always been the policy of the Museum in these exhibitions to present the various aspects of art and industry as they have been affected by the war.
The British Utility Clothing Exhibition reflects a most interesting use of Britain’s top flight designers in the war economy. The government requested the Incorporated Society of London Fashion Designers to submit models of women’s clothing which were to be made from utility materials. The exhibition will include examples of the latest models, fabrics, labeled utility, together with pictorial reports of the Board of Designers and a wide variety of summer and winter clothes as they actually appear in use.
After the showing at the Museum, the exhibition will be available to other organizations in any part of the country. For further information write to the British Information Services, Display Division, 9 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, N.Y.
