Spring 1974: For the sixth consecutive season, The Brooklyn Museum joins in celebrating the talents and imaginations of Brooklyn’ s creative youth with the exhibition SALUTE TO BROOKLYN’S CREATIVE YOUTH, sponsored by the Brooklyn Arts and Culture Association (BACA). A colorful selection of more than 150 paintings, graphics, sculpture and collages chosen from the works of kindergarten through high school students in the public, private and parochial schools throughout the borough will go on view in the Museum’s Community Gallery March 10. The exhibition will continue through April 21. Joining in the month-long, borough-wide Salute, numerous banks, libraries, schools and institutions will exhibit thousands of art works.
A gala, all-day celebration at the Museum, spotlighting creative young painters, sculptors, musicians and writers will include:- A Free Concert in the Auditorium Court by District # 13 Schools at noon;
- Poetry Readings by District # 13 Schools at 3:00 p. m.; and
- A Special Salute Slide Show prepared by BACA
