  • March 29, 1952 On Saturday, March 29 at 3 P.M. the Brooklyn Museum will present JAPAN THROUGH THE DANCE with the famous Japanese dancer Sahomi Tachibana and Company in the Sculpture Court at the Museum. The program will be free to the public.

SAHOMI TACHIBANA is one of the foremost exponents of the Japanese dance, both ancient and modern. She studied in Japan with the members of the great dance family Tachibana. Because of her complete mastery of the classical dance as well as the imagination with which she approached the modern, she acquired her professional name, one that is revered in the realm of the Japanese dance, from the head master Sakon Tachibana. Japanese dance is clearly related to the religious, artistic and every day life of the people of Japan and today’s program truly illustrates Japan Through the Dance.

This dance program is being presented in conjunction with the exhibition of JAPANESE CRAFTSMEN current in the Museum galleries through April 6.
