International Watercolor Exhibition, 17th Biennial

  • May 13, 1952 The Brooklyn Museum is now preparing for its 17th Biennial International Water Color Exhibition. Artists who wish to be represented are invited to submit work in the preliminary viewings scheduled for February 18 and again on March 11. The exhibition will open on May 13 and continue through June 21, 1953.

    John J. Gordon, Curator of Paintings and Sculpture, emphasizes that the exhibitions are not open shows but are assembled by invitation only.

    Rules for submitting works:

    1. Artists may submit up to six pictures, framed or unframed.

    2. All work must be clearly labelled with artist’s name and address.

    3. Work is limited to water color, gouache and similar water mediums, such as casein, when treated in a manner consonant with the general character of the show.

    4. Work must be delivered and called for at the museum between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. on scheduled days. Work may not be sent by parcel post or express.

    5. The Museum will not be responsible for the safety of works submitted.
