In one sentence, describe this scene:

  • A giant snake is guarding a group of people from a lion.
  • A guardian serpant protects it's master and family from predators during the night.
  • Snake, lion, people watching
  • Frightening
  • Lion and cobra about to tangle with onlookers in repose
  • A dark painting with a central figure of a snake, probably carrying some form of symbolism
  • The snake and the lion
  • Allegorical scene of snake spirit protecting a family.
  • Guarding the family.
  • THis looks like the serpent from Adam and Eve.
  • Snake on a field, charming a lion away from party goers while monkey watches on.
  • Image showing larger-than-life snake in foreground near gazebo structure with humans and architectural complex in background.
  • A lion confronts a giant cobra in this illustration. A Hindu deity sits in a palace in the background with two female attendants while lightning cracks above a monkeys head. In the foreground a family sleeps lays beneath a pavilion while two workers sift grain.
  • Cobra and lion in the night outside the palace with lighting in the sky.
  • A cobra rises next to a lion while some people hang out in a gazebo all in front of a big palace in the background and some mysterious creatures in the dark.
  • The lion is trying to save the people in the gazebo, but the snake is threatening and preventing him.
  • This is a very odd piece - the composition is unlike anything I have seen thus far - where we see what appears to be Shiva enshrined/ enthroned in the backdrop (or is it perhaps Krishna? I'd need a higher res image to tell) and a lion engaging a naga in the foreground at night near a pavilion housing a couple of courtly women and their supposed protectors(?) at night (the time is reinforced not only by the blackness of the background, but of what appears to be a nocturnal monkey above the pavilion) - is this an evocation of the deity in the background manifesting in the foreground as a snake to protect the vulnerable women from the threat of a lion (or vice-versa?) while the guardians sleep?
  • Frightful creatures on the outside of a city protected by Vishnu
  • A lion and a serpent face off, as the serpent either protects or imprisons the people behind him.
  • In darkness, animals inhabit the grounds of the palace while people sit comfortably near the palace and gazabo.
  • As people and gods go about their daily business, they are unaware that the snake and the lion are facing off in an epic battle, refereed by the monkey god.
  • Dark monkey
  • Childish
  • Perhaps illustrating a myth; a large snake ominously in the foreground - larger than a lion.
  • Dope
  • A tale of palace intrigue, as the lion, snake and hidden monkey seek to wrest political control.
  • A giant snake looks funky at a lionness
  • Mystic
  • Lion and snake guarding the pathway to the Royal palace
  • Nocturnal activities of different species.
  • Another weird baby drawing with animals houses and people
  • Light and darkness
  • Family portrait, in hopes of gleaning spiritual wisdom.
  • Dreamy.
  • Animals lurking at night
  • No clue
  • A symbolic expression of life and people.
  • Snake and lion representing some future event
  • Outdoor night scene of giant cobra, lion and figures
  • You have to be initiated into the indian mythology in order to understand the meaning of this mistirious painting.
  • Snakes and lions and krishna inhabit the dream of a young lady.
  • The snake knew that eating that mouse for lunch wasn't a good idea...
  • A naga protects a family.
  • A giant cobra and a lion are menacing a figure on a road between two domed structures with several figures in each lounging about.
  • The cobra tale
  • The focal point is a cobra, an ever present danger in India.
  • A snake living among us
  • Magical
  • A lion stops in its tracks, mesmerized by a snake that rears up, unnoticed by figures relaxing nearby.
  • The snake figure is prominent, as is the god in the massive temple - the humans are small. It is not possible to make out the detail - is the snake protecting the humans from the lion?
  • It's not one scene it's a whole story.
  • Interesting juxtaposition of figures out of scale.
  • Guardian of wife
  • All maya.
  • Snake charmers and other animal handlers summoning evil charms outside a palace.
  • A lioness is challenging a giant cobra, but it's a scene involving Indian gods and goddesses, so it's more in the realm of myths.
  • Nighttime castle scene.
  • Illustration of mythic story.
  • A snake and a lion do battle outside a temple, while people nearby in a gazebo watch.
  • Outside the temple, courtesans and animals interact.
  • A lion confronts a cobra at night
  • Startled snake, confused lion, suspicious monkey.
  • Darkness
  • I see a large serpent in front of a palace.
  • A sensual dream being had by the woman who is reclining
  • Tells a story of a myth - animals have certain meanings - symbolic
  • God only knows
  • A stormy night filled with palaces and supernatural evils.
  • The power of love and prayer.
  • Cobra, lion and Buddha.
  • A large-eyed, giant cobra looks directly out of the picture as a lion approaches and a god and mortals look on.
  • Serpent.
  • I'm sure there is something symbolic about the snake and lion, but I'm not sure what.
  • The will of the gods
  • Animal guardians of a palace grounds during a nighttime storm.
  • Huge cobra, tiny people... a lion... monkey in the background.. some kind of religious or folktale significance, probably.
  • An enormous cobra meets a lion in a dream or legend.
  • And snake and a lion near a castle that has a multi-armed individual sitting by it.

  • Serpent and lion fight.
  • Commoners pray to gods to maintain the order of nature.
  • A plague
  • When night approaches, fears come out.
  • Snake
  • Cobra protecting the people
  • Crazy and dream like..will the snake eat the lion?
  • A serpent god protecting a young mother and baby from the world
  • A dark night with a big snake.
  • A snake coils in the foreground, perhaps protecting the house and figures in the background.
  • Ganesh had a crazy dream.
  • Evil is lurking and darkness prevails.
  • Shiva sends a giant snake to torment villagers who are saved by their pet lion.
  • Danger everywhere.
  • Serpent guard
  • Serpent lion people with a distant city
  • Nighttime. Goofy looking serpent--cobra?--front center; lion looking up at it or behind it. Man and woman in gazebo. Gods and people in palace at back.
  • A snake coils about among other animals while people relax nearby.
  • The serpent meets the lion in darkness and has a path to cross and others wait in repentance behind the serpent.
  • Iconic Indian animals guard the temple.

  • How music keeps us safe
