Jewish Ceremonial Wine Cup, One of Pair

Catalogue Description:
One of pair of Jewish ceremonial cups, silver with gilt wash interior, circular form, bowl engraved with late nineteenth-century inscriptions in Hebrew. Inscription on the exterior within an oval panel of bright-cut engraving reads: "the blessing over the circumcision." Around the center inscription reads: "He who deepeth the precepts will never know of any evil thing." Cups intended for use in Jewish circumcision.
