Catalogue Description: Blue-green glazed faience figure of Pataikos. The nude dwarf-shaped god wears a cap-like hairdo on the top of which is a beetle in relief. The figure stands upon two crocodiles whose bodies face in the same direction as Pataikos, but whose heads are turned inwards to serve as supports for his feet. On either side of the god is the figure, in relief, of a goddess crowned with feathers and a bird. The rear of the figure of the god is flat, and bears a figure, in relief of a cow-headed goddess crowned with a sun-disk (Hathor ?), and with outstretched arms and drooping wings. Pataikos holds two snakes in his hands. The border of the relief of the goddess behind Pataikos, her hair, and the disk bear traces of the black glaze. There are also traces of black glaze on the snakes. There is a hole for a cord pierced through the head of Pataikos. Condition: Much glaze chipped away; dark discoloration.
