Catalogue Description: Fragment of a seated limestone statueof Imhotep. The god sits upon a throne which rests itself is rectangular, and on each side there is, in the lower rear portion, a smaller rectangle with borders in relief. The seat of the throne curves up intyo that back of the throne, and there is a projectiobn out from the back of the throne. The god wears a long skirt which reachs down to a point just above just above his ankles. The garment is not indicated by relief on the legs but there are traces of paint which show where it terminated. Imhotep holds a papyrus roll on his lap (the two ends are rolled up) which bears an inscription (facing the god). Condition: Figure of the god missing from the below the waist up; top of rear of throne missing; part of front of plinth missing, and part of the front of the plinth missing, and part of the front of the plinth was once broken off and has now been mended; numerous chips out of the rest of the piece.
