Catalogue Description:
Flask, glazed earthenware. Flask is in the shape of a hardcover book. The spout is located at the top front edge of flask. The flask has a smooth surface, excluding the binding decoration on the 'spine' of the book. The glaze appears to be a spatter type flint glaze. The 'cover' of the book has an olive color, and the inside or 'pages' of the book have a blue-green and orange color. History: Similar items in the Museum collection include 43.128.77; 43.128.190; 44.112 Barret dates this type of flask from 1849-1858 Condition: Excellent overall condition. Cork stopper is missing.
