Catalogue Description:
Federal style dining table comprised of two end pedestals each mounted to half of top (a-b) and a middle leaf (c). The two pedestals each consist of a reeded-edge table top on a lathe-turned pillar with four splayed legs. The tops of the pillars are urn-shaped, and the front face of each of the legs is carved in a waterleaf design on the upper portion and widely reeded on the lower portion. The legs terminate in brass paw feet with casters. The edge of the middle leaf is also reeded. CONDITION: Good. Some scratches on table top and nicks on the edges. The finish is slightly alligatored. The piece was fumigated after entering the museum, as the discovery of frass indicated possible insect infestation.
