Nubian Comrades

This fragment of a battle scene shows two Nubian warriors. The man on the right has been wounded in combat. He is supported by a fellow soldier who carries a long Sudanese bow.

Egyptian artisans developed different conventions to depict foreigners. In this example, the hoop earrings and the fleshy folds extending from the nostrils to the corners of the mouth identify these men as Nubians.
