Catalogue Description:
Colorless pressed Cuban war glass butter dish (a) and cover (b). Round, bowl-like dish decorated with American crest ringed by foliate wreath in center. Rim has undulating edge and stippled ground, conforming ribbon of stars runs around center of rim. Lid in shape of flat-topped dome with straight tapering sides; sides decorated with three spread eagles standing atop American shield and separated by upright cannons. Top of lid has American shield lying flat with large bullet (or torpedo) set on top serving as a finial. CONDITION: Good; few tiny chips around edge of lid; adhesive residue around rim of bowl.
