Catalogue Description:
From upstairs room, The White House, Washington, D.C. ca. 1850-70. Rococo Revival. Marble hearth with wood frame, 17 inches deep (wood frame 2 inches wide). Opening is a series of oval frames, with bracket leaf ornament at top center. Off-white marble with dark veins; polished and black-painted brass.
