Catalogue Description:
White marble sculpture of the Virgin holding the Christ Child, who turns his face upward towards hers. Both Virgin and Child wear long flowing drapery, and posture of Virgin is gently curved in the Gothic style. Traces of polychromy on the Virgin's face. The Virgin and the Child each wear attached silver crowns (not permanently affixed). Sculpture is 48.206.30a, Virgin's crown is .30b, and Child's crown is .30c. Sculpture entered collection with a painted wooden cabinet (48.206.31).
