CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Pair of incised bone ear ornaments with a basketry disk covered with black feathers and a clamshell bead, and edged with pin-wheel of black quail, topknot feathers. The long bone tubes are decorated with incised geometrical designs on one side. A twisted fiber cord emanates from one of the tubes. These ornaments, which are worn by both men and women through the ear lobes, were a common form of personal adornment in central California. Condition: good, the old accession number is written on both tubes.
