CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Creamer with hinged lid; silver, cast and repoussé decoration; part of a six-piece tea and coffee service (75.164.1-.6). Circular stepped base with inset stem supporting circular body which narrows toward top with inset neck and flange collar at top. Repoussé decoration on body consists of stylized acanthus band around base, almond-shaped lozenge with border of stylized acanthus enclosing dancing Cupid figure with tambourine. Identical lozenge on reverse enclosing monogram: "MAC". Raised or cast decoration at base of neck and on flange collar. Dome-shaped lid with broad rim attached by hinge. Stylized pineapple and vine repoussé decoration on dome. Finial is a feline figure seated on disk supporting oval shield at front. High arched handle terminating at top with double snake, with sphinx head beneath with claw terminal at bottom. Short projecting triangular spout, supported by outspread wings. CONDITION: Excellent, minor scratches on brim of lid.
