CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Italian oil painting depicting Lot and his daughters; A conservation report from April 1973 states the following: “The picture was in poor condition. The varnish was very think which hid repaint. It was also discolored and degraded. There was cleavage and loss to the paint film and extensive cupping throughout. Radiography revealed that there were losses to the original canvas. The painting had been lined and the coarse fabric and lining paste were both very brittle. The stretcher was torqued and incapable of supporting the fabric.”
