Catalogue Description: Circular medal. Obverse: Seated allegorical female figure of America holding liberty cap and pole and offering laurel wreath with eagle atop national shield, surrounded by wheat sheaves, spinning wheel, plow, cornucopia and other instruments, sailing ship on horizon; legend in relief: "AMERICAN INSTITUTE / NEW-YORK." Reverse: Laurel wreath framing legend in relief, "THE MEDAL OF SUPERIORITY / AWARDED TO" and engraved inscription, "Worcester Corset Co. / For Corsets / 1880."
