Obverse (designed by Saint-Gaudens): Figure of Christopher Columbus stepping onto shore with crew and billowing sailing behind him; legend in relief at right, "PLUS / ULTRA" (within flame between columns) and "CHRISTOPHER / COLUMBUS / OCT. XII / MCCCCXCII." Reverse (designed by Barber): central rectangular plaque surmounted by a pair of angels (one blowing trumpet and one holding tablet and pen) flanking globe; torches on either side and ship below; legend in relief within plaque, "WORLD'S - COLUMBIAN - EXPOSITION / IN COMMEMORATION - OF - THE / FOUR - HUNDREDTH - ANNIVERSARY / OF - THE - LANDING - OF - COLUMBUS / - MDCCCXCII - MDCCCXCIII / TO / [in relief on banner within plaque] WORCESTER / CORSET / COMPANY".
