    INSCRIPTIONS In center, molded around portrait bust: "FIRST IN WAR FIRST IN PEACE. / FIRST IN THE HEARTS / OF HIS COUNTRYMEN." On each handle, molded under bear paws: "1776 / CENTENNIAL / 1876"

    CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Oval, colorless pressed glass platter with handles at top and bottom. Decorations molded into underside: in center, three-quarters profile bust of George Washington, surrounded by molded inscriptions: "FIRST IN WAR FIRST IN PEACE. / FIRST IN THE HEARTS / OF HIS COUNTRYMEN.". Rim decorated with radiating faceted pattern at top and bottom; and interlocking rings with diamond shapes and dot patterns along sides; edge of rim scalloped. Molded handles each framed with pair of bear paws forming an arch over the inscription "1776 / CENTENNIAL / 1876". CONDITION: Fair; small chips along edge of top handle; several cracks (could be manufacturing flaws) on underside.
