MARKINGS In circle on cover "Lyman Fenton & Co/ Bennington Vt/ Fentons/Enamel/ Patented/ 1849." Also black letter inscription on frieze of entablature: "Fenton's Enamel/ Patented 1849/ Lyman Fenton & Co/ Manufacturers/ Bennington/ Vermont."

CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Water cooler, flint enameled glazed yellow earthenware, octagon shaped body in form of a temple with panels containing eight figures of apostles separated by Doric columns, base is formed by blocks or bricks enclosed by two mouldings, circular holes for bung, octagon pagoda shape cover with finial, tin cover inside. Condition: Rim of neck has been broken and repaired with rivets, small chip on corner of cover.
