Description Candlestick (a) with removable bobeche (b). Base has six broad feet each with a panel in which is an oval surrounded by four oval segments. A raised rim runs around the bottom of the base exterior. Bottom of base is flat. Above the feet, the base slopes upward and is lobed with alternating wide and narrow lobes. At the top of the base, a ring marks the transition to the six-sided stick, which flares slightly as it rises. Each side of the stick has an arched-top panel. At the top of the stick is a molding with alternating wide and narrow gadrooning, then a turning before the hexagonal candle socket. The socket is articulated with six shield-shaped panels. Above these is a convex area, which flares out at the top. Candle socket is fitted with a bobeche comprising a sleeve, which fits into the socket and above the sleeve, a flat platform surrounded by a rim with alternating wide and narrow lobes. The piece is hand wrought and hammer marks are evident throughout the stick. The mark "C" is the mark used by Edgar Caron who worked with Stone from 1924- 1936. CONDITION - Minor scratches; bobeche sleeve slightly dented; otherwise excellent.
