Dinner benefiting the Brooklyn Museum Fund for African American Art
February 25, 2014
In 2010, we launched the Fund for African American Art, a major collecting initiative to build our holdings of precontemporary African American art. This annual fundraising dinner supports the Fund. Past events have taken place in artist Mickalene Thomas’s studio, at the acclaimed restaurant Red Rooster Harlem, and at Kehinde Wiley's studio in Williamsburg.
For this year's event, held at the Museum with catering by Saul restaurant and bar, we are thrilled to honor Saundra Williams-Cornwell and W. Don Cornwell for their longtime outstanding support and for giving the Fund identity, direction, and momentum. Their leadership and generosity have built our collection, enhanced our programming, and created a community that will enrich our increasingly diverse audiences.
Brooklyn Artists Ball
April 16, 2014
Our biggest annual fundraising event celebrating the borough's contributions to the arts. This year, we'll honor development visionaries and art patrons Jane and David Walentas and celebrate artists Jenny Holzer, Kehinde Wiley, and Ai Weiwei. As a guest, you'll dine at one-of-a-kind table environments created especially for the evening by Brooklyn artists, followed by an After-Party. Get a taste with this short video about last year's Ball.
