Technical Liaison—Technology

The Technical Liaison is a highly organized individual who handles many facets of end user training and support, basic network administrator and department administration.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office running on an enterprise network
  • Knowledge of Mac hardware and OS, networking, and specialized Mac applications running on an enterprise network
  • Experience with user training, including running training sessions and creating training materials
  • Experience performing upgrades and migrations of Windows and Mac operating systems and applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Additional Qualifications:

  • Entry level knowledge of network administration with a demonstrated willingness to learn on the job
  • Working knowledge of Jamf Pro helpful
  • Security awareness training experience a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Provide end user support:
    • Answer and solve basic user support questions submitted to the Help Desk
    • Route advanced user support issues to the appropriate staff, and follow up through issue resolution
    • Manage all aspects of Mac and iOS support, including upgrades and imaging
    • Install software on new computers and on existing computers in need of in-house repair
    • Research technology-based solutions for common problems experienced by users
    • Maintain hardware inventory and track software licenses
  • Train staff in Museum applications:

    • Answer and solve questions regarding Microsoft Office and other Museum applications
    • Run training sessions for staff in select applications as needed
    • Create training videos, manuals, and other materials
    • Evaluate new products with an eye toward end user and training issues
    • Take a leadership role in creating an ongoing staff training program to help keep staff abreast of features and changes to various software programs
  • Assist the Network Administration team:

    • Track location, condition, and status of computer equipment, and conduct inventory upkeep and maintenance
    • Learn and perform other Network Administrator tasks such as backup tape rotation, monitoring systems, and troubleshooting connectivity
    • Be on call for the Network Administration team during planned vacations and other leave time
  • Departmental Administration:

    • Assist with purchasing, including getting quotes, creating POs, submitting invoices, and tracking shipping.
    • Assist with departmental budget planning and tracking

Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
