Audiophile: Xenia Rubinos and RIZZLA

Thursday, August 15, 2013

7–7 pm

Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden, 1st Floor

"... The music of Brooklyn vocalist Xenia Rubinos is like some brilliant mash-up of Stereolab, Os Mutantes, and the best tunes from Sesame Street. Borrowing from Latin rhythms, punkish experimentalism, and pop playfulness, Rubinos creates an awesome sound that’s as much grounded as it is otherworldly." —WNYC

Brooklyn-based Rubinos has a powerful voice and creates beats and melodies with a loop pedal, blending textures and flavors with syncopated Caribbean rhythms, soulful punk, and minimalist indie rock. RIZZLA mixes his tracks with dancehall, reggaeton, and vogue swing. They come together for a sonic carnival celebrating party music and experimentation. Entry is free with Museum admission, which is a suggested donation.
