See our European collection in a new way after witnessing the pattern and dynamism of English sword dancing! Presented by Half Moon Sword of New York City and eleven other English folk dance groups from around the country, these dances were a hallmark of traditional winter “ales” in farming and coal-mining regions of northern England. Stately longsword dances of North England and Scotland, faster rapper dances performed with double-handled swords, and Irish jigs will be some of the colorful dances featured this afternoon. Free with Museum admission.
