2–4 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

Conductor Felipe Tristan showcases the woodwinds and brass of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra in Strauss’s delicate Serenade for Winds, followed by the rhythms of Leonard Bernstein’s 1957 hit musical West Side Story. The strings of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra play the evocative “Adagio” by American composer Samuel Barber. The concert ends with Respighi’s exhilarating depiction of four of Rome’s magnificent baroque fountains.

Program:

  • Richard Strauss, Serenade for 13 Wind Instruments
  • Leonard Bernstein, Symphonic Dances from “West Side Story”
  • Samuel Barber, “Adagio for Strings”
  • Ottorino Respighi, Pines of Rome

Advance tickets are $10 for Museum Members; $20 for non-Members; day-of tickets are $25 at the door. Tickets are available through the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra.
