Curator Talk: Andy Warhol: Revelation

Thursday, November 18, 2021

7–9 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

Explore how faith, life and death, power, and desire show up in Andy Warhol’s iconic Pop art with the curators of our latest exhibition, Andy Warhol: Revelation. First, delve into the details of Andy Warhol’s Byzantine Catholic upbringing and the profound influence of religion on his life and work in a presentation by José Carlos Diaz, Chief Curator, Andy Warhol Museum. Then, Carmen Hermo, Associate Curator, Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, joins Diaz for a conversation about the process of organizing the exhibition. The two also discuss Warhol’s relationship to women, from depictions of the Virgin Mary to Marilyn Monroe, as well as the artist’s relationship with his mother. After the talk, visit the exhibition.

Tickets start at $16 and are available during our Member pre-sale. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, October 15, and are $25. All tickets include after-hours admission to Andy Warhol: Revelation. Not a Member? Join today!

All visitors 12 and older must show proof of vaccination and a valid I.D. Masks are required regardless of vaccination status.
