Dematerializing After Pop: Jaime Davidovich in discussion with Daniel Quiles

In the 1960s the notion of dematerialization was simultaneously formulated by critics Lucy Lippard in New York and Oscar Masotta in Buenos Aires. Art historian Daniel Quiles will explore with artist Jaime Davidovich the development of an experimental milieu in Argentina that began with the 1961 destructive art event at Buenos Aires’s Galería Lirolay. The conversation will focus on issues of creative synchronicity between both countries prior to the emergence of an Argentinean dictatorship, and will be framed by a comparative approach to the avant-garde on both sides of the Americas. This event is free with Museum admission.
