Artist Talk: Odyssey Works
August 10, 2013
Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, Forum, 4th Floor
Imagine waking up to find yourself in a performance where you are the main character. You go about your day as usual: commute to work, come home, make dinner, and meet friends and family. It seems like an ordinary day, until things get increasingly strange. That’s because today, everything is a stage and you are the sole audience. This is Odyssey Works
, and if this is happening to you, it’s because, six months earlier, you filled out one of their lengthy questionnaires.
Join us for a rare presentation and mini-Odyssey by Abraham Burickson, OW Artistic Director, and Ayden L.M. Grout, OW Director of Documentation, as they take you behind the scenes of their new approach to performance. They discuss the group's eleven-year history and offer a glimpse into preparations for their September production, part of the BEAT Festival
(Brooklyn Emerging Artists in Theater).
