Walking Tour: Chinatown

Sunday, June 29, 2014

3–3 pm

,

Join curator and art writer Ryan Lee Wong for a walk exploring connections between the work of Ai Weiwei, who lived and worked in New York in the 1980s and early ‘90s, and the arts community in Chinatown at that time. The walk explores activism, alternative art spaces, the streets, and artistic creation and gives a context for the artist’s later work, currently on view in the exhibition Ai Weiwei: According to What?.

Ryan Lee Wong is curator of Serve the People: The Asian American Movement in New York, recently on view at Interference Archive, and former Assistant Curator at the Museum of Chinese in America.

There is limited space on the tour, so tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $15, include admission to the exhibition Ai Weiwei: According to What? at a later date of your choice, and are available at www.museumtix.com.  Member tickets are now sold out; if you’re a Member, please purchase tickets through museumtix (above link).

Meeting location will be disclosed within two days of the walking tour to pre-registered participants.
