St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble: Seasons of Brahms
Sunday, June 10, 2018
2–4 pm
Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor
In the first of their series “Facets of Brahms,” St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble presents chamber works from throughout Joannes Brahms’s long career. The program features the rhapsodic late masterpiece Clarinet Quintet in B minor and the confidence of the early String Sextet No.1, written when Brahms was 27.
Stop by before the 2 pm concert for a discussion as Orchestra of St. Luke's clarinetist Jon Manasse introduces the range of Brahms's style, as well as the influence a performer can have on a composer, as was the case with Brahms's Clarinet Quartet.
