Ceremony: Sound Baths with Guadalupe Maravilla

Saturday, September 17, 12–1:30 pm, 3–4:30 pm

Robert E. Blum Gallery, 1st Floor

Join artist Guadalupe Maravilla and healers, musicians, and singers for Ceremony, a ninety-minute sound bath held within Maravilla’s special exhibition Tierra Blanca Joven. The sound baths—which involve singing and the playing of gongs, bells, and other instruments—will activate the Disease Thrower sculptures in the exhibition and draw from the artist’s personal healing journey as a cancer survivor and migrant. As part of their multidisciplinary mutual aid practice centering healing, Maravilla has led sound baths for communities around the city and across the world.

Masks are required, regardless of vaccination status.

This program is free, but space is limited. Advance tickets are sold out. A limited number of timed tickets will be available on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.

Guadalupe Maravilla: Tierra Blanca Joven is part of the Wellcome Trust’s initiative Mindscapes, which examines mental health in collaboration with institutions around the world.
