St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble: Beethoven's “Eroica” CANCELLED

Sunday, March 29, 2020

2–3:30 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

This event has been cancelled.

Pianist Paavali Jumppanen joins St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble for the first of two all-Beethoven programs celebrating the composer’s 250th birthday. Jumppanen is a noted Beethoven expert, who has written extensively about the composer and recorded many of his works for piano. The program features the Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat Major, which highlights the ensemble’s woodwind players; and the “Eroica” symphony, one of Beethoven’s most powerful and popular works in an arrangement for piano quartet by Ferdinand Ries, who was the composer’s student, confidante, and secretary.

Program:

  • Ludwig van Beethoven: Quintet for Piano and Winds in E-flat Major, Op. 16
  • Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony No. 3, Op. 55 “Eroica” (arr. Ferdinand Ries)

Tickets are $40 ($32 for Members) and are available at oslmusic.org or by calling 212.594.6100, ext. 2.
