Teacher Workshop: Frida Kahlo in Her Own Words

Thursday, April 4, 2019

4:30–7:30 pm

Meet in the Education Studios, 1st Floor

This workshop is now full. Join us in June for our workshop exploring One: Egúngún.

Discover the power of the artist’s voice in this evening teacher professional development workshop focused on the life and identity of Frida Kahlo. Learn about Kahlo’s various identities as described in her own words, including her writing, interviews, and speeches, and explore how she constructed her self-image, in our special exhibition Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving. By pairing Kahlo’s words with her original works of art, educators will develop a more nuanced understanding of Kahlo’s life and work, and hone strategies for centering an artist’s voice as a teaching tool in their classrooms.

Registration is $40. Members receive 10% off. Not a Member? Join today!
