Teen Night: WHAT PARTY

Friday, April 9, 2021

5–7 pm

Online

Join us on Zoom as Teen Night, our teen-led program centered on art and activism, goes virtual! This evening highlights a range of youth artists and entrepreneurs carving their own path, inspired by KAWS: WHAT PARTY. Follow #BKMTeens on Instagram or Facebook to learn more.

Schedule:

  • 5 pm Welcome: Settle in with activities and a fun introduction to the evening’s themes, led by our BkM Teens MCs.
  • 5:10 pm Art Marketplace: Learn how you can support the work of artists in our community! Connect with visual artists Liliana Rasmussen, Assiatou Traore, and Stephanie Hughes, and hear from the Other 1s Foundation and more organizations that are using art and fashion to make an impact.
  • 5:25 pm Panel Discussion: In “Reframing the Narrative: Emerging as a Young Artist of Color in the Art World,” artists Daphne Arthur and Ana María Agüero Jahannes share their experiences navigating issues of capitalism, inclusion and exclusion, and building a brand, moderated by BkM Teens.
  • 6:15 pm Raffle: Test your trivia knowledge for a chance to win free tickets to KAWS: WHAT PARTY and other prizes.
  • 6:20–7:00 pm Music: Catch performances by poet Meera Dasgupta, musicians Icy Soleil and Nate Harris, dance company R&R COLLECTIVE, and more!

This online program is free and open to all youth ages 14–22; join us on Zoom. All participants will be encouraged to engage through the chat and must abide by our community agreements. Virtual Teen Night is organized by the Teen Night Planning Committee, our paid teen internship in public programming.
