Thursdays in June: Black Queer Brooklyn on Film

Thursday, June 29, 2017

11 am–10 pm

Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, Forum, 4th Floor

On view every Thursday throughout June, this series presents new short films by young, black, queer, female-identified, and gender-nonconforming artists and filmmakers working in Brooklyn today.

The series riffs on the contributions of the Combahee River Collective, a black lesbian feminist organization formed in 1974, and their Black Feminist Statement, and is presented in conjunction with the exhibition We Wanted a Revolution: Black Radical Women, 1965–85.

Films are shown in the following order. The running time for the entire series is 2 hours and 50 minutes; following the first run at 11 am*, it repeats at 1, 4, and 7 pm. Free with Museum admission. This program contains mature content and may not be suitable for all audiences.
