Rachel (Trotula group)
Flourished late 11th century, Troyes, France
Rachel was the daughter of Rabbi Shlomo Yitzhaqi (1040–1105), a leading scholar and interpreter of the Talmud, the book of Jewish rabbinical law. Rashi, as he is commonly known, gave his daughters a thorough religious education, not available to many women at the time. Rachel married a Talmudic scholar and most likely aided her father in his work.
