Fashioning Personae: Collage, Gender, and Feminism
Participants Colette , Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, K8 Hardy, Judith Rodenbeck

Collage has been used throughout history to enable feminist reappraisals and critiques of artistic traditions, and to expose the hidden history of feminist production. Contemporary use of collage ranges from the purely material to artistic strategies for creative self-fashioning, for inhabiting and assembling new personae and identities. This panel invites three members of the contemporary vanguard—Colette, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, and K8 Hardy—to consider collage's impact on gender theory and their artistic process. Organized by the International Collage Center, the panel will be moderated by art historian and critic Judith Rodenbeck.
