Judy Chicago with Elizabeth Sackler: Changing Institutions
Participants Judy Chicago, Elizabeth Sackler

Judy Chicago and Elizabeth Sackler share ideas about changing studio art education and the established conventions of art institutions.

In the early 1970s, Chicago founded the first feminist art program, at California State University, Fresno, and initiated the Cal-Arts Feminist Art Program, along with fellow artist and faculty member Miriam Schapiro. Chicago uses these and other personal experiences and historical events as the basis for her 2014 book, Institutional Time: A Critique of Studio Art Education.
