Multi-Visit Programs

Multi-visit programs are for schools that have already sent multiple classes to the Museum and are interested in a more in-depth relationship. They combine guided gallery visits with professional development, assessment, and planning between teachers and museum educators. These elements make for successful, intensive programs that benefit both the school and us. We offer two different multi-visit programs: Focus Units and Museum/School Partnerships.

Focus Units
The Focus Unit program is designed for several teachers working together in one grade from one school. It’s comprised of a planning workshop at the Museum for all participating teachers as well as multiple Museum visits per class. Teachers and museum educators work together to choose the lessons that integrate most effectively in classroom curricula. Each school must assign a coordinator to oversee the collaboration.

Museum-School Partnerships
Museum-School Partnerships offer similar components to the Focus Unit program but are designed for the broader school community. Teachers and museum educators work cooperatively to determine the exact nature of each partnership, which may include professional development and a curriculum integrating museum educator–led school-based lessons and multiple visits. Schools must assign a coordinator to oversee the collaboration. Those interested should contact the School Programs Manager, who will meet with school representatives to assess the prospects for collaboration.
