In this paid internship, learn about the ins and outs of event planning in the arts! Work to provide a safe, equitable, and creative space for other LGBTQ teens to have fun, explore the arts, and express themselves and their identities. As an LGBTQ Teen Night Planning Committee member, you’ll collaborate with other LGBTQ teens to design, coordinate, and promote an LGBTQ Teen Night, a free event that features music and dance performances, workshops, art-making, friends, and food.
Design, plan, and execute a free, large-scale event for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, gender nonconforming, and queer teens and their allies in NYC
Meet educators, artists, and curators to learn about visual art and our collections
Promote this Teen Night to LGBTQ teens across New York City, especially in Brooklyn
Communicate with community organizations and emerging artists and performers
Assist with other Teen Events and programs like Target First Saturday
Build and strengthen your communication, teamwork, time management, organizational, and event-planning skills
Get paid $11.00 an hour through June 2017, for up to 36 hours this spring!
This program is open to applicants who 1) identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, gender nonconforming, or queer; 2) are between 14 and 19 years old; and 3) are able to commit to the activities below, which take place February through June 2017:
