Inscriptions

(in Ge'ez) This cross belongs to Empress Menen whose baptismal name is Walatta Giyorgis. She gave it to (the church of) Gethsemane Maryam on the 22 of Meskerem the Year of Grace 42 (EOC calendar 1942, Gregorian calendar 1949 or 1950). Translation done by Dr. Wolf Leslau, 1977.
