Side Chair

Unknown Maker

Brooklyn Museum photograph

Object Label

This chair's design is indebted to the Rococo furniture popularized by Thomas Chippendale in England. This Philadelphia chair is so closely related to Chippendale's published designs its maker might well have had direct access to his design book.
