Contemporary American Ceramics

DATES September 27, 1985 through June 10, 1986
ORGANIZING DEPARTMENT Decorative Arts
  • September 27, 1985 Contemporary American Ceramics, which opened September 27 in the Changing Exhibition Gallery on the 4th floor, has been extended through the end of May. Highlighting the exhibition are five ceramic works acquired last year through the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Purchase Grant of 1984. The addition of these works to the Museum’s collection represents a major step in the development of a first-rate contemporary ceramics collection. The exhibition includes works of Beatrice Wood, Kenneth Ferguson, Rudy Autio, Wayne Higby, and Christina Bertoni. These pieces are complemented by other ceramic works from the Museum’s collection by Rick Dillingham, Judy Chicago, Meiji Girotell, Otto and Gertrude Natzler, and Edwin Scheier.
