  • September 18, 1942 Today (Friday, September 18) the Brooklyn Museum’s Department of Prints and Drawings presents its first show of the new season. This exhibition, entitled “The Cockney’s London,” is installed in the Print Gallery, 2nd floor, where it will remain on view through Sunday, December 13.

    “The Cockney’s London” is represented through some forty prints, from the Museum’s collection, by the famous English artist William Hogarth (1697-1764). In addition to such individual items as “Beer Street,” “Gin Lane,” “Southwark Fair,” etc., there are selections from the well-known series: “Marriage-a-la-Mode,” “A Harlot’s Progress,” Twelve Large Prints for Hudibras,” “Rake’s Progress,” and “The Four Times of Day.”
