  • December 5, 1949 An exhibition of recent additions to the Museum’s print collection opens December 5, 1949 and is current through January 15, 1950 in the large Print Gallery on the second floor. Some sixty prints have been selected from the gifts and purchases of the past two years. Etchings, engravings, woodcuts and lithographs by American and European artists are represented. Some of the outstanding European examples are by Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Toulouse-Lautrec, Edouard Vuillard, Jacques Villon, Paul Klee, Edvard Munch, Louis Joseph Soulas, James Ensor, Max Beckmann and Robert Sargent Austin. The fine examples of contemporary American work include Eleanor Coen, Antonio Frasconi, Seong Moy, Worden Day, Sue Fuller, Anne Ryan, Mauricio Lasansky, Walter Anderson, Childe Hassam and Stow Wengenroth. This exhibition portrays the caliber and the extensiveness of the Museum’s contemporary print collection.
