Catalogue Description:
Standing figure made of peat moss. Arms at sides extending down towards hips. Features fashioned out of moss: large ears project at sides; broad irregular nose; gaping open mouth. Features inserted into and added to surface: series of top and bottom row teeth; strings of glass beads and white seeds around neck; cord with suspended elements including fragments of animal bones (pig and opossum), pieces of shell, and Kina shell pendant; black woven yet tied across waist as loin cloth. Material has spongy yet brittle texture which gives form abstracted and abbreviated contours. Color: brown. Condition: Fragile, expected due to the nature of the material.
