Catalogue Description:
Ash-glazed stoneware jug with quartz rock accents. Circular base, rounded body, sloping shoulders, neck, and opening. Dark olive brown loop handle attached at base of neck and at shoulder line. Body is thrown and turned on a potter's wheel. Face is modeled by hand. Eyes, nose, mouth, ears and eyebrows stand out in relief. Face is contorted with sunken cheeks. Eyeballs are unglazed white ceramic, pupils are painted black, and teeth are quartz rock pebbles. CONDITION: Excellent
