Catalogue Description: Quite large vase with a fairly broad foot of medium height spreading a little at the bottom just above a low straight rim, a broad ovoid body with quite high shoulders, and a tall also fairly broad neck, concave in outline and rimmed at the top and bottom. On either side are dragon handles. Gilded copper, decorated with covered cloisonné enamels. On the foot is a border of pendants with scrolling borders, perhaps in imitation of cicada designs on archaic bronzes, filled with angular and scroll designs and lotus heads, on a ground strewn with rosettes. On the body, between a row of interlocking designs, similar in type but larger than those on the foot, and a row of connected ju i heads on the shoulders, are large scalloped medallions on a ground of lotus scrolls and bats. The medallions contain flowers alternating with landscape scenes, one of which is evidently a copy of an Italian engraving. On the neck are taller versions of the design on the foot, with lotus scrolls between and another row of connected ju i beads above. The colors are red, three shade of green, cobalt blue, pink, white, and black on a turquoise ground. The enamel surface is pitted.
